Wheeling Forward Spotlight: giving, lending wheelchairs, interview

MaryAnn first came to Wheeling Forward in need of a wheelchair. Though Medicaid initially provided MaryAnn with a motorized chair, they refused to fix it again after one repair. As a result, her broken chair was sitting in her apartment for six months and MaryAnn was relying on a manual chair, that she could hardly propel.

When MaryAnn spoke with Wheeling Forward, she was delighted to hear that we would be able to lend her a motorized chair and deliver it to her home.  She was even more surprised when she met Alex Elegudin, our founder and President of Wheeling Forward.  “I was surprised to see that [Alex] was [also] in a wheelchair . . . That’s very good.  It makes you feel that you’re not alone.”  With this loaner chair, MaryAnn regained her independence and enjoyed daily living of running errands, going to job-training school, and visiting friends.

“Anything for [Wheeling Forward’s Administrative Coordinator] Sharifa!” MayAnn says.  “The Wheeling Forward team “is friendly and [they even] spoke to some people [in my building] about me.”  Wheeling Forward made sure MaryAnn had people who could help her if needed. The best place to buy amitriptyline online in UK.

When asked what MaryAnn is most grateful for with Wheeling Forward, she said, “The freedom!”  Because of Wheeling Forward, “I’m able to accomplish great things!”
